Hello – My name is Scott Colton and I am the founder of "Sgt Golf", a golf rehabilitation program
that helps injured veterans get the best treatment possible using golf as a main part of their therapy. Recent studies have
shown that golf stimulates the mind and body while improving the overall rehabilitation success. Not only does golf help the
veterans' overall mental outlook, it actually helps them physically recover quicker than with other types of traditional
therapy. I can personally attest to this, as it was instrumental in my own recovery.
As a former
Medic in the Army and then a Corpsman in the Navy between 1997 & 2003, I became interested in helping aid in the rehabilitation
of my fellow wounded soldiers after I was injured and went through the rehab process. We are not an organization that is for
or against the War(s) we just care about quality of treatment for our injured Hero(s)! Luckily, we have two of the nations
largest and most advanced V.A. Hospitals locally in the Tampa Bay area that specialize in traumatic brain Injury and Spinal
Cord Injuries. Injuries sustained by our troops can be short term, long term and sometimes permanent. Unfortunately, we have
more men and women needing help than ever before. The programs that we have developed allow them to rehabilitate at their
own rate, in a stress free environment. We also have a division of Sgt. Golf that sends equipment to units in Iraq and Afghanistan. As
you know, golf is used as a tremendous stress and relaxation method.
I am contacting you to ask for your
help with keeping this program running. We would like to have enough equipment on hand for all of the veterans to be able
to function properly. As of now, we can not accommodate all of the vets that are interested in being involved in our
program. With the Holidays approaching we are asking anyone for help. We are not asking for cash, all that we need is golf
equipment. As of November 2008 we have had more than 200 veterans come into at-least one of our programs. I wish I could say
that the numbers of injured veterans is decreasing however, it is actually increasing! Again, the golf equipment we are asking
for does not have to be new nor does it have to be perfect. We just need equipment so that everyone can have access to the
proper tools for their recovery process. These men and, women who fought so hard for their freedom and where injured doing
so do not deserve the best treatment and, we are trying to do our part so, please help us continue.
So what
do we need? We need; clubs, balls, bags and general golf equipment. We are not asking for cash. The equipment does not
have to be new, just in good, usable condition. We are particularly low on drivers, hybrids, and, putters.
Since
we started several years ago, we have received donations from; Ping
Golf, Carbite
Golf,
Heavy Putter, BagBoy, AMF,
www.golftestusa.com,McHenry Metals, Yes Putters, David Hicks Golf. several others!Mr. And Mrs. Bob Sauer, Sue Williams. our Heart goes out to
each and, every person who has helped us in any way.
Your participation in this
project will be greatly appreciated by our wounded warriors. You will be enhancing their physical and mental health. If you
are a member of a golf or country club, we ask if you would share this message with your fellow members and friends.
Please contact me with any questions, suggestions, or concerns.
Sincerely,
Scott. B. Colton.

Our Mission
For some people a round of golf is the perfect weekend reward. Now imagine how hitting the links could soothe a battle weary
soldier and help them get back into the swing of things. Our Goal is to give the gift of golf to any of our troops. We have
helped skilled players and, many who have never played before and, wanted to start. We help all levels of injured veterans
from healthy veterans to veterans with traumatic brain injuries.
